Family Force 5 | March 20th, 2007
After releasing an EP in 2005, Family Force 5 burst onto the Christian music scene in 2006 with Business Up Front / Party in the Back. As a follow-up to their debut hit, they have released The Diamond Edition, featuring additional songs. Family Force 5 is fickle when it comes to genre, but they take the best elements from rock, rap, hardcore and dance music and blend them with bold, groundbreaking lyrics to create one extraordinary music experience. The album features both songs with deep Christian meanings, as well as fun songs with a driving beat that tend to take up residence in your head and stay quite a while. The band, however, ties it all together to set their music apart from anything before or since.
On the spiritual side, the three most notable tracks are Replace Me, Peachy, and Face Down. Replace Me is a heartfelt cry for help from a person who is totally lost in sin and is seeking Christ. Lyrics like My flesh is leading me astray / That's why I started to decay / And I will slowly rot away / But I can't feel that anyway and Desperation needing you / Every last breath I scream for you / Shatter me into a million pieces / Make me new most explicitly state the absence and need for Christ in one's life. Peachy has a slightly more upbeat tone, asking the Lord Don't ever bring me back / To where I used to be / Cause now I feel so fine / And I feel so peachy. The song is about how a life transforms after entering into a relationship with Christ. It also seems to be written to someone who is pondering Christianity but doesn't understand the dramatic impact is has. Face Down is a song that all believers can identify with at one time or another. It deals with our tendency to be haughty and think we have all the answers to life's problems. I'm on my face again / It's where I should have been / Brings me back to where I found you talks about how we often find Christ when we are at our lowest points, and Falling with my face down / Giving up me, myself, and I / A bitter sweet taste to swallow my pride addresses how we can be overly prideful before Christ.
Luv Addict, one of the strongest highlights of the album, reels listeners in with Hey, Can't kick the habit / Yeah, I got to have it / Yeah, I 'm what they call a love addict. Other songs on the album, such as Lose Urself and Earthquake are reminiscent of dance club music, and may seem like unconventional additions to a Christian CD at first. However, when you listen to them in context with whole CD, they help to add additional flair to the album and give the listener something fun to rock out to in between spiritual messages.
Family Force 5 has created an amazing, unique, and original album with Business Up Front, Party in the Back, and the Diamond Edition provides an extended version of the album with even more songs to entertain and inspire. This album is likely one of the most fun albums on the Christian market for our generation, one which I highly recommend for listeners of any age, as it can be as beneficial as it is entertaining.

We rely on you, the listener, to tell us what you like so we can deliver the best music possible. Our identified core artists are those that are consistently ranked highly by a survey performed each year. If a particular song tests well, it is played with more frequency. If a song tests poorly, it is removed. Your feedback as a listener is crucial to us.
At Resound, music testing is essential to our philosophy of operation. It's your station, so you should pick the music. Every month, you will have an opportunity to participate in our in-studio music test and receive a free candy bar for your help.
